Orlando Photographer & Artist
Veteran photographer & photojournalist Erika Barker instinctively taps into her rich experience as a award-winning US Armed
Forces
combat photographer and her extensive graphic design education and experience for her current
work in
Commercial photography, Model photography, Fashion photography, and Photojournalism
Don’t mistake Erika for one of the many who simply think they can hang a shingle and photograph
professionally. Erika exhibits both innate creativity and studied implementation that set her ahead of the pack in the fields of photography, graphic design and visual communications.
“My graphic design educational focus and experience provide me an edge for my work.. Not
only do I integrate the foundational elements of great compositions such as lighting, symmetry,
contrast and depth into the “shooting” of a photo, I also anticipate what can be done later
through creative and solid post editing techniques (Photoshop or CG elements). By utilizing
these features after the photo is recorded, this combination of pre- and post-photographic
skills and knowledge enables me to make photographs that ‘pop’ -- without overdoing it with
cheesy effects..
"My experiences in today’s world of combat photography also equip me to not only record
events, but to communicate stories through each photograph or photo series I create.
These are the fundamentals that fuel my passion for exceptional photography in each
endeavor I take on – and make me passionate about a wide range of visual communication.”
In the following linked pages, you will find examples of the creative and experience-honed photographic mastery produced by Erika Baker.
